Discourse Syndicate on the week of Heart's detention

Short answer

In a livestream on 17 October 2026, three days after Richard Heart was detained in Istanbul, Discourse Syndicate hosts Captain RG3, AWildSJ and Johnny say the community should defend what Heart built, not the man. They expect the Red Notice matter to end, probably with a fine — their guess, since no charge, court decision or extradition request is public. Their view that HEX yield comes from the code matches the contract, but a figure of 134 million HEX paid out in one day is not confirmed by the chain.

Which part of the stream is covered?

The embedded video starts at 18:49, where Captain RG3 opens the show; the first 18 minutes are a pre-show clip, a short welcome and audio troubleshooting. The stream runs about two and a half hours. The other speakers are AWildSJ and a co-host introduced as Johnny; a guest introduced as Marcus Triple Dad joins when the hosts bring everybody up (at 31:38). Names and figures below come from the auto-generated captions, so spellings may be off.

Why do the hosts say “it’s over”?

Captain RG3 opens by saying that, whatever happens, “it’s over” (at 19:28). Later the hosts explain what they mean: a Red Notice cannot hang open forever, and the detention means the matter will finally be settled — in their guess with some kind of fine (at 1:48:50). Earlier in the stream Captain RG3 says that he does not actually know what is going on, believes Heart will be cleared, and will hold that view “until those chips fall in a different direction” (at 30:23).

That outcome is the hosts’ expectation. For context: the Finnish Criminal Code sets imprisonment of four months to four years for aggravated tax fraud (chapter 29, section 2) — which would matter only if charges were brought and a court convicted. As of 17 October 2026, Turkey’s Minister of Justice has confirmed the detention on an Interpol Red Notice, which was issued at Finland’s request. No court decision on custody, no Turkish charge and no extradition request is public, and Finland has filed no charges. The full record is on the legal timeline.

Johnny remembers the SEC judge as saying that buyers had been told their money was gone (at 1:22:23). The court did not decide the case on that. It dismissed every claim for lack of personal jurisdiction and because the complaint did not allege domestic transactions, and it did not rule on whether HEX, PLS or PLSX are securities.

How did the hosts get here?

Captain RG3 tells his own story (at 21:18): he served in the Marine Corps infantry, first used Bitcoin around 2014 and was close to leaving crypto when Heart called the top of the 2017 market. He went all in when HEX launched. He set up Discourse Syndicate because, with no marketing budget, the community itself had to do the explaining (at 28:20). His message for the week: defend what Heart built and teach people to use it, not Heart himself (at 1:11:03).

Near the end the hosts reject the “cult” label (at 2:25:15). They call themselves skeptics who learned how staking, liquidity and limit orders work by checking things for themselves (at 58:22).

Where does HEX yield come from?

Johnny argues that HEX yield is set by the code, not paid by new buyers, and compares it to rewards in a video game (at 44:03). That matches the contract. Each day HEX adds a payout equal to about 3.69 % per 364 days of all circulating and staked HEX and splits it among stakers by their shares. Nobody’s deposit funds it. The yield is in HEX, though; what that HEX is worth is up to the market. Details: HEX staking.

Did 134 million HEX get paid out in one day?

A host relays a figure of 134 million HEX paid out on one day (at 2:17:35). The idea behind it is right: when stakes end early, part of the penalty goes to the remaining stakers. Half of each penalty is added to the daily payout pool; the other half goes to the Origin Address.

The number does not match the chain. Reading dailyData from the HEX contract on PulseChain on 17 October 2026, for HEX days 2500–2509 (7–16 October, UTC):

HEX day Date (UTC) Payout pool, HEX
2506 13 Oct 69,376,021
2507 14 Oct 104,085,021
2508 15 Oct 80,095,279
2509 16 Oct 68,243,495

On the other days the pool was between 67.4 and 73.1 million HEX. On 14 and 15 October it was roughly 37 and 13 million HEX above an ordinary day. By our estimate that means about 100 million HEX in penalties over those two days, half of it paid to stakers. No day reached 134 million. Whether the figure refers to Ethereum or to something else is not said in the stream.

What do the hosts say about the dip?

The hosts say the sell-off was largely bought back within about two days (at 1:06:44); this portal has not checked prices. They suggest placing limit orders in steps below the price instead of reacting to the news, and buying only with money you can afford to hold through a fall (at 1:14:48). That is their view, not a price forecast, and nothing here is financial advice.

How far has the tablet campaign got?

AWildSJ, who helps run the campaign, now puts the number of tablets distributed at about 600,000 to 700,000 (at 1:36:03). Three days earlier, in the tablet AMA, the figure was about 600,000. Going by the hub map, AWildSJ counts (at 1:36:56):

All of these are the hosts’ approximate numbers, not a count. The campaign’s online store, used to cover shipping to other countries, is offline for now (at 1:15:36). The hosts suggest handing tablets out at Halloween and point to the hub map on rsgfoundation.org (at 1:54:41). The foundation and its numbers have not been reviewed by this portal.

What else came up?

Johnny explains Actuator, a community-built protocol that lets a staker borrow tokens against a HEX stake without ending it (at 2:11:32). Johnny calls it an advanced tool “you can hurt yourself with”: borrowed tokens that are sold and not bought back are deducted from the HEX when the stake ends, which in effect sells that HEX. This portal has not reviewed Actuator’s contracts.

The hosts also compare HEX with Bitcoin’s early history (at 38:48). They talk about blocking trolls who use HEX logos (at 50:13) and criticise influencers who attack the project when prices are down.
