Are the INC farms a rug? Can the owner take deposits?

Short answer

False as stated. The farm contract has no function that lets its owner move users’ deposits, and withdrawing is always possible. The owner does control future rewards — within a hard cap — which is a real but limited dependence on one key.

The claim

“The INC farms are a rug — the owner can steal the LP tokens people deposit.”

A recurring claim; no single original source is attributed here.

What the code shows

The PulseX MasterChef has no migrator — the SushiSwap function that could move all staked LP tokens was removed (MasterChef.sol:10-12). Users can always withdraw or emergencyWithdraw (:208-242). The owner can only add farms, set weights and set the emission rate, capped at 1 INC per second (:53, :86-87). Read the contract.

What exactly is claimed?

That the farm contract, where liquidity providers stake their LP tokens to earn INC, lets its owner take those tokens — a “rug pull”. The worry has a real history: the original SushiSwap MasterChef contained a migrator function that could move every staked LP token to a new contract. The question is whether PulseX’s version has it.

Can the owner move deposits?

No. The PulseX MasterChef states in its own header that it is SushiSwap’s MasterChef with rewards per second and with the migration functions removed (MasterChef.sol:10-12). No remaining function moves a user’s LP tokens anywhere except back to that user:

  • withdraw returns the chosen amount plus pending INC (:208-226);
  • emergencyWithdraw returns the whole deposit without rewards (:230-242).

There is no deposit fee and no pause.

What can the owner do?

Owner power Limit in code Code
Add a farm at most 4,000 allocation points per farm :105-106
Change a farm’s weight at most 4,000 allocation points :123-127
Change the emission rate at most 1 INC per second :53, :86-87
Hand ownership to another address standard Ownable inherited

Apart from the inherited ownership functions, the three above are the only owner-restricted functions in the contract (:86, :105, :123).

On 2026-10-17 the owner was the single-key address 0x2e8440f1839847af6566ef718dae48e17c0744df, the rate 0.0003 INC per second, across 19 farms with 9,500 allocation points in total. INC itself can only be minted by the MasterChef, which is INC’s owner — so no other path creates INC.

What is fair in the criticism?

The reward policy depends on one key: the owner can shift future INC between farms or cut emissions, and the code comment itself says the owner holds great power until it is handed to a governance contract (:14-16). That affects what you earn, not what you deposited.

Verdict

False as stated. The owner cannot take staked LP tokens; it can only steer future rewards within fixed caps. Details: INC and PulseX farms.
